Description
Abandoned city harbour from XIX century. Built on the basis of the draft by Richard Plüddemann, Karl Klimm, L. Günther in 1872-1901. Port was part of the so-called Wroclaw node water - the biggest in Poland and one of Europe's largest system of waterways and hydraulic structures. During the war, a large part of the port was destroyed and many of the buildings have not been repaired to this day. After the war it served as a port mainly transit.
In 2005 fire destroyed a significant portion of the granary, which collapsed. Today, the old buildings in the port remained mainly dock, a granary (now barley mills), overhead crane and so, locomotive shed, building scales, warehouses and mechanical workshops, building of the former board of the port. Little part of this old buildings have another life now because of little fabrics and shops in them, but most of infrastructure is abandoned and slowly decaying.
Here is the view from the main harbour, you can see some abandoned buildings. We went to this big red one in the middle of the picture and toured whole - from basement to the roof. Will post later the view from the top of it.
